Flying birds of prey

2001/01/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Birds of prey make a curved route to attack their prey. Why? They have researched with peregrine falcon in Colorado and have confirmed that when they are 1.5 km from the loot they always make a curved tour. They suspected that the key was in the sight of predators. After several tests, they have shown that the objects around them are more visible if they turn the head 40º. However, turning your head in flight is not suitable from an aerodynamic point of view. And this is solved with a
curved path that allows to always keep an eye staring at the dam.
