This year’s most outstanding research has been awarded
On September 3, the Ig Nobel Prizes were held, which reward “achievements that first create ridicule and then make us think”.
As every year, the Ig Nobel Prize Award Ceremony has been held to recognise the year’s most unique research. Although at first glance they may seem ridiculous, they pay tribute to studies with scientific merit and that can have an unexpected impact on society.
This year has been the 36th edition and after 35 years in Boston (USA) it has been held in Zürich (Switzerland). It is still planned to be held in a European city due to international passenger safety concerns. Four of last year’s ten winners chose not to attend the ceremony for not traveling to the U.S., and the situation has not improved.
