#65 ULTRAVIOLET WAVES: Mother of environmentalism, destination of misogyny

Rachel Carson's biography begins normally. He was born in the United States (Pennsylvania, 1907-1964) in the countryside, and his family had animals and a rich natural environment. He studied genetics and zoology and was a good writer. His books on the ocean were a great success. But above all, it resonated with the book he wrote to warn of the damage of pesticides: "Silent Spring." Compared to previous books, this made a clear denunciation and led to the consolidation of environmental awareness and the tightening of regulations. It also aroused the indignation of the lords who promoted industrial agriculture. This is what they said about him, publicly: “Being such a beautiful woman, if she’s single, it’s a communist sign.”
