#62 ULTRAVIOLET WAVES: Huge data centers
Artificial intelligence has led to the proliferation of data centers. Although it is said that the data is in the cloud and we imagine it as such, they are on the ground, in large data centers formed by machines and cables. There are more than 10,000 people in the world and they are multiplying at a dizzying speed. The explosion of creative artificial intelligence has a direct bearing on this, as it requires enormous computing power. We are also beginning to see the consequences: some aquifers have been depleted, they generate a lot of noise and pollution, and the social gap is increasing. There are two options: despair and immersion in fatalism, or being critical. Think about what we really need artificial intelligence for and look for alternatives to huge databases. Using “ultraviolet waves” we have opted for the second option in this section.
