The warlike sounds coming from the Persian Gulf were heard by some well in advance. The US, through its satellites in space, immediately discovered the rides made by Iraqi troops to Kuwait.

All radio communications (including Saddam Hussein's communications from his place of driving with troops) were controlled by satellites called Magnum. Elin satellites reported the number of tanks, vehicles and soldiers.

The Soviets were not left behind and changed the orbit of the Cosmos 2086 satellite to learn about the events of the Gulf.
