A team of researchers at the University of Wisconsin has seen in computer simulations that friction between materials is very similar in nanoscale and large-scale. In fact, they have seen that, like on a large scale, the friction force between the objects of the nanoscale is proportional to the number of atoms interacted on two surfaces that are being rubbed together. This means that what the nanoscale friction models used to do so far, that is, the surfaces on the nanoscale are completely flat.
