Creationism is not science

From the very moment Darwin formulated his theory of evolution, American religious fundamentalists are in conflict with evolutionism as they consider the work of the devil and the trojan horse of communist materialism. According to them, in schools we must also teach what the Bible has said (or what they have interpreted).

According to the Bible, the world would only have four thousand years and all animals and plants would be created by God and saved by No from the flood. This creationist attitude is quite progressive if we do not take into account that at the beginning of the century they defended a mere teaching of creationism.

When in 1981 the U.S. congress approved the Balance Treatament Act it seemed that creationists had won the battle. According to this law, both views should be treated in a balanced manner in schools. But this law was appealed in the Superior Court and this court has annulled it. According to the Superior Court, creationism is a religious belief and evolutionism is science. Since the U.S. Constitution does not allow the law to promote a certain religious belief, the law is unconstitutional.

With this decision it will be possible not to repeat what happened in 1927. So the state of Tennessee sued natural science professor Scopes for teaching evolutionism.
