Translation telephone service

1990/05/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

AT&T has launched a translation telephone service in the United States so that people who do not know English can communicate with anyone who speaks English.

AT & T Language Line

This service, which operates 24 hours a day, can interpret 143 languages and dialects. To be able to connect to this service you must dial a specific number. The call is free and the user connects to the interpreter in a few seconds.

This service works in two directions: translating from another language into English, or vice versa, translating it from English to another language. In addition, the service may also return written material if desired by the user.

In the AT&T forecasts, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, German, Italian and Greek are the most widely used languages in this service. The least used are Armenian, Sioux, Romanian, Punjabi, Tui and Wuxinés, although there will also be interpreters for them.
