Today humanity uses around 6,500 languages in the world, but half are about to be lost or lost. The world's ten most spoken languages occupy half the world's population, with 2.3 billion people.

Chinese is the most spoken (726 million speakers), English after (427 million) and then Spanish (266 million), Hindu (182 million), Arabic (181 million), Portuguese (165 million), Bengali (162 million), Russian (158 million), Japanese (124 million) and German (121 million). French ranks eleventh on the list, with 116 million speakers. Basque, for its part, has about 700,000 speakers.
