“Our second brain” wins the short video contest OnZientzia

On Friday, the short video contest on OnZientzia, science, organized annually by Elhuyar and the Donostia International Physics Center, was held.

This year, OnZientzia has awarded five awards:

First of all, he gave a special mention to the video “Beauty in Sale”, created by Ainhoa López and Nerea Etxaburu.

The Youth Award went to Komentsalismo, students of 3rd ESO of the Xabier Zubiri Manteo School. Young people analyze, explain and solve together a problem they have identified in their daily lives.

In the award for the best video in Basque, there has been a technical presentation, with two ex aequo awards granted by OnZientzia: one of them has been awarded to the video “Olagarroa”, made by Noa López Ochoa. It tells of another way of evolving the mind. And the second, a video full of humor: “Tinder – Match! edo kosk!”, by Jon Esnaola López, Ane Fradejas Marculeta and Dunixe Urrutibeaskoa Azula.

And the grand prize of the contest, for the best informative video: “Our second brain” by Yurena Carrero. He works on a hot topic and has been able to specifically incorporate the gender perspective, according to the jury.

The composition of the Tribunal has been as follows: Marian Iriarte Ormazabal, Vice-Rector for Institutional Relations and Culture of the UPV/EHU; Cristina Tapia Huici, Head of Communication of the Film Library; Jon Mattin Matxain Beraza, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry of the UPV/EHU and Associate Researcher of the DIPC; Itxaso Azcune Tolosa, Communication Technician of the DIPC; and Nagore Rementeria Argote, representative of Teknopolis and Elhuyar.

This year’s participation has been higher than ever, with a total of 114 videos received, two thirds of them in Basque. In addition, half of the videos have been presented to the Gazte Saria Awards, which are aimed at children under 18 years old.
