Human species fewer and fewer genes

2004/12/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Humans have fewer genes than initially thought. Although the initial draft mentioned that man had between 30,000 and 40,000 genes, the latest estimates suggest that the human genome has only between 20,000 and 25,000 genes.

However, according to scientists, the key is not in the number of genes, but in the regulation of genes. In fact, each gene can be used in several ways, and its use depends on regulation.
