Although most of the adult population is integrated against covid-19, income has increased, some countries, such as Israel and the United States, have decided to give a third dose. In Europe, the health authorities in Germany, France and Austria have also announced this intention. However, the European Medicines Agency has not yet taken a decision on this, and the World Health Organisation has shown itself against it and has recalled that non-vaccinated people have priority.
The SEM spokespersons have stated that data from European and non-European vaccination campaigns are being studied in order to advise on the need or not for doses to strengthen the covid-19 vaccine and, in any case, on the population that needed it.
According to the scientific journal Nature, there is still not enough evidence to put a new dose on the whole population. However, he has explained that it may be convenient for the elderly and people with immunodeficiency, and he has recalled that, in the investigations that have been conducted to analyze the effect of a new dose, those that mix different vaccines have had a good result.
He explains that inactivated virus vaccines, such as those developed in China, are less effective than those accepted in Europe and the US, so it is very possible that some other vaccine doses are needed to achieve more complete protection.
