Natural airway against earth heating

2001/03/07 Elhuyar Zientzia

As is known, the temperature of the Earth is increasing and the problems it has generated and can generate are a source of concern. However, in the journal Nature it is stated that in the clouds above the Pacific Ocean there is a natural airway for the earth.

Although further studies are needed on the extent of this airway, it is clear that clouds will have to be taken into account in global climate models. Researchers have used satellite measures to, on the one hand, collect data from sea surface temperature and, on the other, measure the cloud layer covering the Equatorial Pacific Ocean from Australia to the Hawaii Islands. Meteorologists have discovered that the surface temperatures of the sea and therefore those of the atmosphere above the sea, when warmer, do not produce emotions.

Cirrus clouds are clouds made of ice crystals that do not reflect the rays of the sun, so they return to the ground the infrared heat that is expelled from the ground. The clusters, on the other hand, form a thin layer in the form of a feather that protects from the sun, reflecting the rays of the sun towards the space.

According to meteorologists, the relationship between cirrus and clusters varies with temperature. Thanks to this natural cooling system, increasing temperature produces less emotions. However, as so far the influence of emotions and clusters has not been taken into account in predictions on earth warming, these predictions can be excessive. According to the model used, the warming of the earth would be 1.5-4.5 °C, but in calculations with the Pacific airway would be half degree or a minor degree.

Although the results of this study are encouraging, they must continue to deepen and apply the conclusions at the global level, to see if this phenomenon is verified worldwide.
