April 30, mirror day of August 12
April 30 is the mirror of the day that will be the eclipse of the Sun, where it will be placed at the same time and place where the Sun sets on August 12. The solar inputs of the previous and subsequent days will be very similar, so it is a good time to confirm that the place chosen for the observation of the solar eclipse is suitable for this purpose.
In fact, the integrity of the eclipse will be so close to twilight (around 20:30) that the Sun will already be very low and it may happen that, although it may seem appropriate according to the map for the observation of the eclipse, there is some natural or architectural barrier in front that prevents its continuation.
We'll have a chance to see that on April 30th. In fact, due to the symmetry of the Earth's orbit, on April 30 and on August 12, the Sun makes the same arc in the sky. These dates are symmetrical points with respect to the summer solstice.
Therefore, we recommend that on April 30, or one day before or after, you go to the chosen place (or send someone) and confirm that the Sun looks good in that time zone. The weather won’t depend on us, but it will depend on choosing a good location.
Note: remember that you should not look directly at the Sun without an approved eye protection filter.
