Dunes: Nature’s defensive wall facing the sea

In the concrete area of the beach of Gorliz, today a healthy dune system stands out. By eliminating artificial structures, nature itself has become the main ally for the protection of the coast. Researchers from the UPV/EHU have explained that these dynamic ecosystems soften the influence of marine storms and have the capacity to regenerate themselves, protecting the Basque litoral in a natural way.
