Trying to recover the Deba River

The European project MERLIN, led by the UPV/EHU, has made it possible to eliminate some unused dams from the Deba river. The works have sought to recover the natural habitat of the place. Among other things, the connectivity of the River has been improved, facilitating the movement of fish and reducing the risk of flooding. Despite the controversy, the first results indicate an improvement in the ecosystem.
