#34 ULTRAVIOLET WAVES: The second successful drug option
Viagra is the trade name for sildenafil. When it was developed, the idea was to use it to relieve angina pectoris. It was precisely through sildenafil that they wanted to increase the blood flow to the chest, which they achieved, not in the chest, but in the penis. Realizing that it had a significant impact on clinical trial participants, they decided to change the drug’s target to a more successful use: they focused on treating erectile dysfunction. Even the invention!
In this episode of the Ultra Violet Waves podcast, Alaitz Ochoa de Eribe Aguirre and Ana Galarraga Aiestaran have received more examples of second-chance drugs.
Ultra Violet Waves is produced by Elhuyar for the EITB Podkast portal.
