Zientzia.net can be heard
2014/04/02 Elhuyar Zientzia
Zientzia.net can now be heard thanks to the technologies developed by the department of Linguistic Technologies of Elhuyar and the group Aholkularitza of the UPV.
Voice technologies are not new and are currently quite advanced, but the level of development is not the same in all languages: in the case of English, Spanish, Chinese… these technologies are very advanced, but in the rest of the languages are much more backward. However, as Igor Leturia says in Elhuyar magazine, “the Basque language is not, fortunately, those who go in the last wagon.”
The research team of the UPV-EHU Aholkularitza has achieved a neutral synthetic voice of very good quality. Now, in collaboration with Aholkularitza, Elhuyar has developed listening technology instead of reading the websites and has hung them on Zientzia.net and on the website of Elhuyar magazine. In any text content of Zientzia.net there is now a “play” button. By clicking here, we start listening to the article. There are also buttons to be able to navigate in listening and we can change the voice, volume or speed of a man or a woman. Try it!

Adapted to mobile phones
It is not the only novelty that Zientzia.net will hear. And it is that we have finished with the web totally adapted for mobile.
Last year we released the first version of m.zientzia.net. It showed articles and agenda, allowed browsing topics, voting content, commenting and sharing them on social networks. Now we have taken a step further and the missing contents are already in m.zientzia.net. On the one hand, we have adapted the home page and menu to adapt to the new contents, and on the other, we have added the library, scientific radio, science TV and photo galleries and the search engine.
Now you can enjoy more than ever zientzia.net anytime and anywhere!Gai honi buruzko eduki gehiago
