The infectious disease doctor at Stanford University, Abraar Karan, believes that unvaccinated people need not scratch and protect themselves from infection. The British Medical Journal has stated that non-vaccinated people are not a homogeneous group, and has recalled that the pandemic will not be stopped by individuals but by communities.
He says the U.S. has exceptional vaccines but the spread of vaccination is not as good. To cope with the expansion of the delta variant, some abandoned measures have been reinstated, such as the use of masks in enclosed spaces, as well as those that are integrated. Karan explained that there are vaccinated people who do not want it: they claim that they have so far respected all the rules and that they will not go back because others have not complied with them.
This means leaving unvaccinated people without protection. However, Iran believes that no one can be abandoned. It is essential to ensure that all people have access to masks and are aware of their measures and consequences. For example, you have to know how important it is to isolate if you get infected, and that means you have to give them the opportunity.
Karan concluded that instead of excluding unvaccinated people, they must be protected and called for the rejection of individuality and for thinking and acting in the community.
