This is what a group of researchers have discovered by testing macaques.

After drug administration and virus infection, macaques see that they have few infectious particles in the throat. This can lead to less spread of the virus. In addition, drug-treated macaques have 10,000 times fewer viral particles in the lungs than others and breathe more easily. Researchers believe that the drug limits virus replication. Given the infected alpha interferons, the results are similar but not so evident.

There is currently no effective treatment for SARS. Therefore, this drug can serve to address the problem. In addition, it can be used as a protective measure for its application to health personnel and nearby patients.
