The use of plastics as conductors has been an old intention of researchers. According to a researcher at BASF, a new generation of conductive polymers has been developed.
It was known that polyethylene and polypirrol had good properties to drive the electric current, but they were not moldable. BASF chemists have overcome this problem by changing the structure of these two polymers.
For this purpose, the cycloaddition procedure was used, whereby several chemical groups were incorporated into the basic structure. In this way, the final product obtained is very flexible and can be used as paper, i.e. folded, etc. realized
