Technological monsters
China is technologically advanced. They are demonstrating leadership in environmental technology. For example, in technology for the use of renewable energies.
in October 2025, the first wind turbines with the capacity to work in typhoons, violent hurricanes, were presented. Those that are not destroyed by typhoons and even take advantage of this strong wind and convert it into energy. They've been placed on the coast of Guangdong Province. Some on land and many others installed in the sea itself. The giants. they say they're the height of a 30-story building. And, at the same time, they are fine structures. They look light, but they're superb facilities.
Its objective is to capture winds of 200 kilometers per hour and convert them into energy. It's huge, technological monsters.
All this requires a reflection. The tendency to harness the energy of the wind is to install very large wind turbines in recent years. And this is what China, one of the most advanced technological countries in the world, has done, creating wind turbines capable of fighting typhoons. But the use of large wind turbines causes environmental problems. And their livelihoods. So the question is whether the technology of the future will address this trend or not. Perhaps in the future we will continue to need large facilities to exploit the wind in an efficient way. But maybe not.
If we look back on the history of technology, there are many examples of technology that have reversed the situation in the face of harm. Not necessarily related to size reduction, but related to the use of unthinkable designs. Looking at the elderly in cars, for example, the designs of today’s cars have nothing to do with them. They are not bigger, but much more efficient. Or in the world of lighting. For decades, the approach has been radically reversed. And these are just two examples. Will the same thing happen with renewable energy harvesting technologies? Will we ever laugh at today’s large wind turbines because they were considered a strategy for harnessing wind energy? For now it is an unanswered question. And, unfortunately, we will have to wait decades for an answer. Minimum. Minimum.
