The Turkish and American archaeologists have discovered in the Cayonu site, in the Turkish southeast, a piece of weaving in their excavations. It has been dated using the carbon isotope 14 and is 500 years before the oldest found tissue, that is, 9,000 years ago.
A piece of tissue of about twenty square centimeters has been found wrapped around a useful of deer branches. It seems that the calcium of the branch has protected from the erosion of time and parasites. The weaving seems to be of flax, since in the site have been found numerous flax seeds. However, this opinion may be verified when analysed by an electronic microscope.
The texture makes the found piece part of a costume that cannot be made without the grinding technique. So far weavers It was considered that they started around the year 3500 because the first crushed garments appeared when the writing spread in the Middle East. This finding, however, does not fail to show information about the Neolithic Age.
