The cradle of strawberries, apparently, is found in the Alps and although the Romans knew them, they were not planted. And it is that these fruits, which sell in the market, are more attractive for the eyes, although they are much less tasty.

This fine fruit that is easily lost has the following ingredients: 90% water, 7% carbohydrates, 0.7% protein and 0.6% fat. As can be seen, despite its low content in proteins and fats, it is rich in glucids and, above all, in the fiber that does not absorb our intestine (2.2 g of fiber / 100 g of strawberries). However, it should be known that raspberry in the same family has 7.4 g of fiber per 100 g. On the other hand, considering that to keep our intestines clean we need between 15 and 20 g of fiber a day, it would be enough to eat 200 g of raspberries a day to be quiet about this need.

But let's return to the characteristics of the strawberry. Although the fruit is small, it is a very good regulatory food, since it has many vitamins and minerals. Highlights:

  • Vitamin C is the most important: although it has something less than kiwi in the same amount, it has more orange or any other slot.
  • It contains a lot of folic acid, being the richest in this vitamin. Remember that the need for folic acid increases considerably during pregnancy. Therefore, strawberry is very good for pregnant women.

These flowers of May reach their maximum splendor this month, that is, this month have all the nutrients cited today, since the heat and humidity of the sun contribute to the best development.

As for how to eat, it is recommended to eat when fresh. On the other hand, despite the numerous conservation attempts being made, two are the most well-known:

Therefore, it must be taken into account that this month the strawberry offers us an excellent and sweet opportunity to cover the needs of fiber and vitamin C of the day, whether we eat it alone or with yogurt or milk.
