Represent solutions
2024/02/07 STEAM-Hezkuntza (Elhuyar Zientzia)
It is important to allow solutions to be represented and to put proposals to value. In the classroom, STEAM projects can be carried out such as small research, challenge solving, collective and individual reflections, etc. as a certain training and through project education. Just as we feel part of the problem, we must feel part of the solution.
On the other hand, the challenge we face requires collaboration, not something that can be solved individually.
To illustrate the solutions please take into account the following recommendations:
- A long-term look: Today’s society has a “short-term” vision, closely related to the consumption model, and the challenge of the climate crisis requires a long-term view, as the results will not be immediately perceived, let alone on a global scale.
- Sex-gender perspective: When making proposals to solve a problem that affects us all, it is necessary to take account of the opinion, vision and needs of all. It is therefore essential to incorporate the gender perspective in the solutions to be represented.
- A broad view: In order to understand the situation of the planet and find solutions, it is also necessary to reflect on concrete projects on the economic, political, ecological, cultural, health, technological and ethical consequences.
- Become aware of the strength of small actions to achieve major objectives: Do not ridicule the ideas proposed as solutions, even if they seem utopian. An original dream can be the first step towards a transformative feasible idea. From great ideas we can reach feasible alternatives.
