The City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz is studying the construction of a Theme Park for the Environment (with recreational, didactic, pedical, scientific-technical, cultural and ecological objectives) that would support the most advanced national and international equipment. José Antonio Pizarro, Head of Environment of the City of Vitoria-Gasteiz, considers that this type of theme park would be unique in the world and would involve hundreds of jobs and visitors for Vitoria-Gasteiz.

This would mean an investment of more than 15,000 million pesetas. Although the mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, José Ángel Cuerda, has chosen the area of Salburua for the construction of the park, the advisers working on the project will analyze two other sites. According to these advisers, an area of approximately 320.000 square meters would be needed, in which it is foreseen, among others, the construction of the Museum of Water, External Shows, the thematic hospitality, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the companies related to the Environment or the technological center.
