The company Policea, in collaboration with the technology center Gaiker-Ik4, is developing the implementation of infusion technology for the manufacture of railway facades. These parts of the front of the trains are made of polyester and phenolic resins, always reinforced with fiberglass.

The infusion principle is simple: these pieces are placed in a mold, then coated with a plastic film to close them, and placed in the vacuum, the fiber is compact and the resin is pushed from the outside so that it enters inside and the reinforcement progressively.

The results obtained so far allow us to affirm that infusion technology is a viable option both technically and economically for large surface parts. This is because it improves the quality and characteristics of the piece, reduces the consumption of raw materials, improves the cleaning of the process, reduces the manufacturing costs of large parts and increases the production capacity.
