Energy sources for fusion

2004/04/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

The company JEMA de Lasarte has developed two energy sources for the implementation of the experimental nuclear fusion reactor EFDA-JET.

The EFDA-JET reactor is located in Culham, United Kingdom. This reactor has been one of the pillars on which the ITER project has been defined.

JEMA has taken two years to research, design and build these energy sources. They produce a power of 40 million watts (approximately 20% of the energy generated in the thermal power plant of Pasaia) and occupy a surface of 400 m 2 each. Transportation was also not easy, they needed nine special trucks to bring energy sources to the UK.
