European Parliament wants to reduce vehicle gas emissions

2001/03/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

The Environment Commission of the European Parliament has submitted a report on emissions into the atmosphere. The main objective of the report is to be stricter with the level of authorized emission, for which it is proposed, among other things, to avoid from 2003 the models of motorcycles that exceed the level of permitted emission. However, the limit would be wider for three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.

However, as of 2004, EU countries could not accept the registration, sale or entry of vehicles that do not meet the established specifications. In addition, the report envisages a second tougher phase to be launched in 2006. In this phase, in addition to establishing stricter limits, new vehicles that meet the strictest standards would be economically rewarded, and vehicles with a displacement exceeding 150 cm3 should necessarily have a diagnostic emission level system.
