New container for household oil recycling

Mondragon Unibertsitatea has introduced a used domestic oil recycling system. The process is very simple. Users bring the bins they have at home to the container. There they leave a container with used oil and, activating a normal crank, they take a clean container.

Once the container warehouse is filled, with a capacity of 174 liters, the collection company will be responsible for collecting the containers containing used oil and treating them to convert them into biofuels.

The City of Arrasate has been using this recycling system in the municipality for two years. This has allowed to multiply by five the oil that is recycled annually. Only in this municipality of Gipuzkoa has gone from collecting 5,000 liters a year to collecting 25,000 liters.

The possibility of industrializing the product for further marketing in Spain and internationally is currently being studied.
