1999/11/01 Waliño, Josu - Elhuyar Fundazioa Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

This new chip, which Transmeta has recently patented, is faster than the processor of any PC and can also be adapted to any operating system.

According to Transmet, the variable base of this chip is based on a powerful software emulator. In this way, the chip would emulate by software the operation of the different processors.

Linus Torvalds, creator of the Linux operating system, works in this company and says that the patent for this new processor was requested in July 1996 and has recently been obtained. However, they do not provide any information about the product or when it will be marketed. More information at www.theregister.co.uk
