Although the CEIT was officially established in 1982, the center founded within the School of Engineers of San Sebastian is based on the group of engineers gathered in San Sebastian in 1969. Therefore, the activities of the 30th anniversary have been carried out at the CEIT technology centre.

Manuel Fuentes, director of the center, pointed out that the research structure that was created 30 years ago was totally revolutionary for this time. It can be thought that throughout all this time the center has evolved remarkably, having followed the initial lines of research new ones. In discussing the challenges and the future, Fuentes believes that the biggest challenge of CEIT is to achieve important projects, both in the area of duration and in the scientific-technological, that is, that they are the projects themselves and in themselves a certain challenge.
