Vitamin C prevents cancer

2002/03/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Scientists at Cornell University and Seoul National University explain how vitamin C works against cancer. According to these scientists, vitamin C blocks the carcinogenic effect of hydrogen peroxide.

Vitamin C has been considered one of the most important ingredients in our diet since it was discovered in 1907 that it had an influence on leprosy prevention. Vitamin C prevents the elimination of intercellular communication function (GJIC). Inhibition of this function is directly related to the cancer process, especially in the case of tumors.

Hydrogen peroxide, changing the special protein called 43connexin, cancels the GJIC function. After treating the liver of rats with vitamin C, it has been proven that hydrogen peroxide prevents its effect on GJIC function.

Therefore, with the diet rich in vitamin C we will use the most effective resource against cancer: prevention.
