The gene sequence of a parasitic eukaryote is known

2002/01/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

For the first time they have known and published the gene sequence of a parasitic eukaryote. Encephalitozoon cuniculi parasite can contain numerous hoteliers: vertebrates, insects and even protozoa. However, it was unknown until AIDS patients were detected.

Now this parasite and some things that thought of the archeozoans of the same family have been denied. Among other things, although they believed they had no mitochondria, they have seen that they have some genes typical of mitochondria. According to this, in their day they would have those organelles, which then appeared lost. Consequently, evolutionary biologists will have to reconsider their classification.
