Basque Research wants to become the reference point for Research and Development in the Basque Country. It aims to collect and publicize the research carried out in companies, technological centers and university.

Basque Research is a website created within the framework of the Science and Technology Plan 2001-2004 of the Basque Government. The objective of Basque Research is to promote scientific and technological dissemination within this strategic plan. To do this, it aims to offer a door to the information and international dissemination of all the agents involved in research in the Basque Country. In this way, in addition to knowing what is done at home, you can know us outside.

The approach of the objective from two points of view is right. On the one hand, our objective is to offer Euskal Herria, and more specifically professionals, a public service that facilitates the socialization and promotion of research that is carried out: facilitating knowledge among different agents, opening channels of collaboration, etc. And for the international sphere, our intention is to make known the Research and Development that is carried out in Euskal Herria and open new markets. Therefore, Basque Research will develop its activity in three languages: Basque, Spanish and English. It is worth mentioning that we have a clear intention to introduce a room, the French, because our goal is to give an ever wider and better service.

What can be found at Basque Research?

Among the main contents of Basque Research are three: News, Agenda and Directory.

• News

  In the section you can read the latest news related to Research and Development. These news, aimed at professionals, will give a technical view of research.
• In the Agenda section, events, seminars, conferences, courses, presentations, etc. related to the world of research. we will collect them.
• The directory is a section worthy of special mention and perhaps the most important. In this directory you will find information about companies, research centers and university research groups. The main feature of this section is in the search system, as it offers three types of search: by name, by location and by activity, and finally by lines of research.

In the search by name, for the case of universities, you can find university departments, as well as the name of the principal investigator. Finally, in the search for lines of research, we can know which one is working on a certain line of research, both in technological centers and in companies and in the university. In this way, the aim is to foster collaboration between companies and universities, companies and research centres, and to facilitate relations between groups of researchers to respond to the needs of professionals.

In addition to these three sections, there are others such as the alert service, the list of other websites of interest, the entities, the list of informants, the help sections, etc.

Types of users

Once the contents are mentioned, the next step is to explain the types of users. There are also three types of users: visitors, journalists and informers.

• Informers

  They are information providers of Basque Research. They are the new ones, the contents of the agenda and the rest of the information that they will introduce on the web. These contents also include the possibility of incorporating embargoes, that is, contents that cannot be published before a deadline.
• Journalists can be media professionals or anyone who thirsts for information. They are information clients of Basque Research. They cannot send information, but they can see all of their contents, including those hijacked.
• Finally, there are visitors. News, agenda, directory, etc. will be able to see them but not the kidnapped contents. Therefore, they are web pads.

Finally, Basque Research does not want to be a mere repository of information, so it aims to work on the dissemination of information in specialized journals at European level, websites, etc. We are in contact with news agencies, research networks, etc. that are emerging in Europe and we will promote the collaborations that may arise with them.

Now we only have to be invited to enter the Basque Research, because our goal is to complete what has been done for everyone.
