Prepare a laser beam that detects car pollution

2001/01/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Carbon monoxide gas has no smell or color and is difficult to detect, but inhalation can lead to death. At the same time, carbon monoxide is one of the components of urban smoga and is mainly emitted by cars. The World Health Organization estimates that about three million people die each year from contaminated air. It is not surprising, therefore, that it is intended to limit the spills. Appropriate gas emission detection techniques are required. In the United States they have prepared a laser diode that detects carbon monoxide as it leaves cars. A diode for carbon dioxide has also been invented. The new devices have yielded better results than the previous ones.
