The Balkhash Lagoon, located in Kazakhstan, may be about to dry up according to the United Nations, as they say, if the measures are not taken quickly, will follow the same fate as the Aral Sea.

The lake is drying up because it receives less and less water. As in the case of the Aral Sea, the rivers that feed the lagoon pass through other states, so it is necessary to make international decisions to face the problem.

The river that brings more water to Lake Balkhash is called Ili, which comes from northwest China. The continued growth of the Chinese population is causing an increase in the water collection of the Ili River and, therefore, a decrease in the arrival to the Kazakhstan lagoon.
