The team led by scientist Rolf Erni has seen with great precision the range of 47 meters in a glass of germanium. They have used the TEAM 0.5 microscope from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, considered by many the most powerful electronic transmission microscope in the world. Some experts have described it as a great achievement and, for example, a researcher at Liverpool University has stated that if we could see it in this resolution on a macroscopic scale, an abandoned hair in Manchester could be detected from London (250 km).
