Amstrand PC 1640, the highest resolution

The Amstrad house returns with the new PC 1640 ECD model.

The highlights of this new machine are its advanced color monitor and one of the highest resolutions ever known.

This computer has its EGA graphics card and you can get a maximum resolution of 640x350 helper points thanks to its Internal Graphic Adapter.

The standard configuration of the PC 1640 ECD is as follows: 16 bit 8086 processor, 640 K main memory, 5 1/4 inch floppy disk, 2 button mouse, internal clock in real time, controllable volume speaker, serial and parallel communications and optical pencil jack.

It supports as text 40 and 80 columns, where each character is defined with an array of 8 x 14 points for the EGA card and an array of 8 x 8 points for the EGA, being able to be used in both cases 16 colors.

Graphically it offers two types of resolution: medium resolution (320 x 200 accessible points and 4 colors) and high definition (640 x 200 points and 2 or 16 colors). But it also has another resolution, the so-called high graphic resolution, which allows working with 640 x 350 points and 16 colors.

Along with the team are offered the MS-DOS 3.2 operating system and the Digital GEM environment.

There are three possible configurations: 5D, with a 5 1/4 inch floppy disk, two 1/4 inch DD floppy disks and a 5 1/4 inch HD floppy disk and a 20M hard drive.

The sale price of this new equipment is from 219.000 ptas. (+VAT) up to 360,800 ptas. (+VAT) for the highest configuration, including a DMP 3000 printer.
