In new cars that are currently marketed, basic models also carry airbag, and it can be said that the level of safety they offer generally improves year by year.

On motorcycles, however, there has not been a similar evolution and it can be said that the level of safety is practically zero. To cope with this situation, several researchers from Munich have designed an airbag for bikers.

This airbag, when inflated, is like a two-meter diameter balloon. During the shock, the collectors inflate the balloon, surrounding the body of the bikers. This idea has been extracted by German engineers from the means of protection of aircraft pilots when they are expelled from the cabin.
