The University of the Basque Country will have a science park on the Leioa campus. This week the project was presented in collaboration with the Bizkaia Technology Park. The aim is to attract companies and activities based on technology and innovation and promote the transfer of knowledge between universities, institutions and companies.

Environmental protection can contribute to poverty reduction. This is what the latest study from the "Nature Conservancy", published this week under the name "Investment Bank of Nature", says. A review of four protected marine areas in Indonesia, the Philippines, Fidji and Solomon Islands concludes that the livelihoods of their communities have improved. By increasing fish catches, more money is introduced and the diet is improved because it is richer in protein. The increase in tourism has also created new jobs, especially for women, and visitor fees have made it possible to build drinking water tanks, public toilets and cleaning areas. Health and hygiene benefits are also provided.

Reports, photos, forums... All about nature and science. This is what euskalnatura.net can be found on the website. It has been created by six biology students from the University of the Basque Country, seeking to disseminate information in Basque on these subjects on the Internet. It is an interactive space where anyone can make contributions by participating in forums or uploading photos.

A
diet rich in fish oil can prevent the pathologies associated with obesity. According to a study conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Navarra, a type of Omega-3 fatty acid contained in fish fat, called EPA, decreases cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Increasing these levels, in turn, would increase obesity and insulin resistance.
