Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: For you, for my father, for that, for anyone who goes on the street or wants to read. For those with a little original interest, yes. That's what I write for.

Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: Disclosure can actually be done on many levels and if I tell you or tell the person next to me one thing I will probably have to tell a lot of different things, here you have to look for a kind of balanced discourse. It’s hard, sometimes it’s hard and sometimes I don’t get it, I’m sure I don’t get it, and in this award-winning article I think so, I hope so.

the series of works published in the magazine Elhuyar and on the website of the magazine Elhuyar, under the title “Itsarop Biovencial”, has received the Tecnalia- journalism award in the iternet subsection.

Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: It’s just a couple of articles, if you want the text, with some photos, and then the option that the internet provides, links and links and what you want added has more information there than where to shoot? At least the end of the thread.

Using stem cells, the work has kept the topic of organs and tissues tailor-made. Bioartificial organs, new organs that the body will not reject from its own stem cells .

The surgeon Paolo Machiarini performed the first bioartificial trachea transplant in 2011.Starting from the statements of Machiarini himself, the winning articles have represented the current situation.

Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: It is a very delicate matter if the stem cells on the one hand are the big itsarops, they are a miracle, they are marabilous, but on the other hand we have accepted this and we have started to work with it, we have realized that, in reality, the stem cells have some limitations. Today you can’t say it, and that’s exactly how I was told by those I interviewed, you can’t say they’re a miracle. You have to learn how to handle it; you have to learn what can and cannot be done.

In this sense, the issue was a little complicated, on the one hand it generates big itsarops, on the other there are big limitations; and all this must be said is that the discursive cannot be very amarillistic. You have to be cautious.

Focusing on science and technology issues, Elhuyar magazine has been translating the main international and Basque science topics into articles in Basque for more than three decades. Except on paper, he also publishes these works on the Internet. The website of the magazine Elhuyar was renovated and adapted about a year ago and the winning article was published there.

One or the other is the result of teamwork. At the moment, the editorial team is made up of four people, all of them experts in scientific matters.

Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: Forming a magazine is a team effort and then there are a lot of people involved or at least if there is a team. It is in this group that the issues to be addressed and the issues not to be addressed are decided. That’s important; how to approach it is partly up to you as a copywriter, of course you have that responsibility, but the team also helps you. And sometimes what you see in other places helps you. How they have dealt with the same issue that you have to deal with and all these things are done.

Guillermo Roa is one of the veterans of the Aldicaria, it has been 12 long years since he left the laboratory and dedicated himself to dissemination.

Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: Right after I started the dissemination I realized that I loved it, I was already a customer and why not creative, right? If a vocational point is needed, I had it hidden.

The chemical acts not only in front of the computer, but also in front of the micro. Directs the radio program Ferrokarrila del Norte. Every week for an hour science is the protagonist in the waves. This radio programme, which has been on the radio for 17 years, is co-produced by the Elhuyar Foundation and Euskadi Radio.

Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: It is very curious, many commentators say that the radio has a kind of magic and it fools, that as a medium there is something special, right? It allows me a lot of freedom to tell many things and to tell them in a very pleasant way, I am very happy to tell them. So the radio adventure was very nice for me I found a new world.

His work at the Elhuyar Foundation is focused on bringing science and technology issues closer together in Basque. Making science accessible to all.

Guillermo Roa, Elhuyar Magazine: I believe that the quality of dissemination in Basque has a great limit. Part of the disclosure, of course, is disclosure and we are limited in this regard. On the other hand, it is a stadistic thing if you want; if a thing is done by a lot of people, it will easily reach a minimum level of quality. If only a few people do it, it will take a lot longer to get there. I think we are in the second example, but it has nevertheless reached a point of quality.
