Dual-core phones
Smartphones aren’t just phones, they’re small computers, so having powerful processors is important.
State-of-the-art phones no longer compete just for a bigger screen or a better camera. Today, competition is in the brain of phones, in other words, in the processor. After all, smartphones are not just phones, but small computers that surf the Internet, play video games and do video conferences. They need to move many applications, and often at the same time. Therefore, it is important to have strong processors. The first dual-core processor was installed by LG on the Optimus 2X. It is a processor of one GHz, that is, it is capable of processing one billion bits per second. In practice, this means that the mobile works quickly, and you can switch from one application to another almost without having to wait. Now there are more phones with a dual-core processor. Among other things, the processor of this HTC Sensation is somewhat faster, with 1.2 Ghz. We are talking about high-end phones, which cost 469 and 599 euros in the free market, that is, without operators. The weakness of these mobiles is eternal: autonomy. In theory, dual-core processors make better use of energy. Because they deliver data faster, the display doesn’t have to stay on for that long. But surely, because they work faster, we will promise them more tasks, and no one will free us from the need to plug in the phone every night.
