At the forefront of nanoscience

The Materials Physics Center or CFM is a special basic research center in San Sebastian. It was created as a joint initiative between the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and the UPV/EHU. The CFM researches materials science and nanoscience, bringing together physicists, chemists, computer scientists and engineers. The CFM is a Basic Research Centre of Excellence and, due to its influence, Nature magazine has placed San Sebastian among the two hundred scientific cities in the world in recognition of the scientific production that takes place in the capital.
