When the cancer is inherited

In the Genetic Council Unit of Gipuzkoa they advise families with hereditary cancer. They are screened for background, and if they meet clinical criteria, they are subjected to a genetic screening. Having a genetic alteration does not necessarily mean that the person will develop cancer, but as the probability increases, follow-up measures and, as the case may be, preventive surgery are proposed.
