Kubik, power in the building

A few months ago a new installation was inaugurated in the Bizkaia Technology Park. It is called KUBIK and is the infrastructure that Tecnalia has developed to investigate energy efficiency in construction. It is a special platform; in fact, it is unique in the world. In Teknopolis we did not want to miss the visit.

NAGORE TELLADO; Tecnalia: Kubik is an experimental research infrastructure that aims to improve energy efficiency in construction. We investigate both products, services and concepts, all with the aim of improving energy efficiency.

NAGORE TELLADO; Tecnalia: The main peculiarity of Kubik is its ability to create scenarios. The scenarios can be, for example, a house, or an office, or a school... any use can be simulated. For example, here we are simulating an office.

NAGORE TELLADO; Tecnalia: These sensors are part of the monitoring system. And through these sensors we receive information, and with this information we evaluate the systems and products that we are measuring and researching.

NAGORE TELLADO; Tecnalia: Kubik's brain is the monitoring system we've seen before. And here's Kubik's heart. This is the heart of Kubik, from which it takes all its energy. And here we have both renewable energies - wind, photovoltaic, geothermal and cogeneration microturbines - and conventional energies - electricity and gas.

NAGORE TELLADO; Tecnalia: This is a plant roof, a new product we're testing in Kubik. The objective of this product is to improve the energy efficiency of the building by providing thermal insulation to the building and, above all, it helps us to soften the temperature. This means that the maximums are not as noticeable on the ground floor. The water of the rain unites, with this it feeds the plants, and does not need maintenance.
