The new console mules

The way you play in front of a screen is also constantly changing. We went from using the keyboard of the Spectrum console or the computer to playing with mules and joysticks from Nintendo or Sega. But since Wii was born, the way we interact has undergone a major revolution.

These devices are able to recognize, identify and incorporate the movements of our body into the game that we have on screen. The main console producers have also launched a fierce competition. Nintendo has released Wii Motion Plus. It has installed more sensors to the mule so far, thus being able to better identify the movements.

The Play Station 3 will launch the Motion Controller in the spring. The latter combines the information from the mango sensors with the images captured by the console camera and is able to recognize the emotions of the player: the tremor of the hands indicates that he is nervous and the camera can recognize the smiling face of the person.

Microsoft's "Project Natal" project does not require a mule. Instead, he’s developed an over-the-top TV set for Xbox. The system is able to interpret the movements of four people and recognize their voices, and respond to the information they receive.

There is still a lot to do in the field of video games, but it is not so far away that we will feel what we see and live on the screen in our own skin.
