The hysterectomy
A viewer asks us if, after a hysterectomy—that is, after the uterus is surgically removed—there is a change in sexual function. In principle, it must be said that the removal of the fetus by surgery implies the impossibility of becoming pregnant, therefore infertility.
The procedure is sometimes done through the abdomen or vagina. In others, laparoscopies are performed through the abdomen and navel, thus reducing the time after the operation and the size of the scars. Like our friends, many women are afraid of diminishing their sexual intercourse after losing their uterus. Researchers have found that things don’t have to change after a hysterectomy. If the sexual function was good before the surgery, then it is still like this.
If there are any changes, you will need to talk to your doctor to find out the reason.
