Photographic... artistic?
Remaking old movies takes a lot of work. Making new photos look old is easy. And it's fashionable.
Instagram is a social network for sharing photos. available for iPhone and Android, it’s free. It allows us to adapt the photos that we take with the camera of the phone. First of all, it is necessary to cut a square image, like the one obtained with the cameras of yesteryear. The brightness and contrast of the image can be improved automatically, and blurs can be added. A filter can then be selected. The photos uploaded to Instagram have little weight and therefore poor quality, but thanks to the vintage look obtained with the filters, they are given a professional touch.
Instagram has 100 million users. In fact, it is very easy to manage and you do not need to be a good photographer to get beautiful images. Last year, Instagram was acquired by Facebook, and it was initially announced that they would take the right to sell our photos. This decision drove many people away and the company had to retreat.
Now many other applications have joined this fashion of filters. For example, Flickr, a popular photo sharing website, has turned the mobile app around and made it easier to adapt and share photos to reach a wider audience. And if, in addition to the photos, you want to adapt the videos, now Vimeo also offers the possibility to include filters and effects. At the moment they are free, but in the future they will have to be paid.
But this filter thing doesn't do miracles. And even if we think we’re real artists, we should think twice before our friends get bored with pictures of our pets and recipes.
