Date of expiry of the universe
2004/12/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
The universe ends in 24 billion years, as calculated by theoretical astrophysicist Andrei Linde.
Linde and his team have taken into account the measurements made in Hubble and, although they calculated the expiration date of the first 11 billion years, they have just said it will last more than twice. The end of the universe, known as Big Crunch, is because dark energy produces a negative pressure: As the universe expands this pressure increases.
However, they also have rivals and other astrophysicists believe that the Universe will continue to expand without limits.
